I have been a long time fan of the whole concept of Altra shoes. The introduction of the Fwd Experience has given me,as someone who needs a heel to toe drop in a shoe an opportunity to finally put a pair into my shoe rotation .
The 4mm drop and the aggressive geometry of the shoe gives it a snappy feel when picking up the pace. There is enough in the CMEVA midsole to give you a decent amount of cushioning. It's a perfect alternative for anyone who wants a Hoka feel without the marshmallow feeling cushioning.
The fit is slightly snugger than usual. A little more plush around the heel counter, I have found it locks you in really well. I've found it comfortable to run in at various paces. Overall this is a shoe that equals or if not outperforms many of its more lauded rivals.
