My regular running routine has changed quite a bit over the past few weeks. Juggling two energetic boys and a 6 month old Husky puppy whilst trying to run most days has been a bit of a challenge. Making the most of the one form of exercise a day we have been mainly heading to Mousehold as it is only 5 minutes from where we live. The boys take their bikes to ride the trails and I have been taking out my ON Cloudventure to chase after them.
The Cloudventure feels suitably soft on the trails. Its lightweight, fast and is engineered to handle anything you throw at it, whether you are going up or down. The two layer mesh upper offers great comfort and support. Whilst the boys go up and down the jumps I run up and down the hills and I’m always confident when wearing this shoe that I get all the comfort and grip I need. I feel that wherever my foot lands and whatever it lands on, from stones to mud and larger rocks I still have that cushioned ride. I love this trail shoe!!
I have still been able to get 1 long run a week in at the moment. Trying to avoid busy times and to try and find a route where I am not going to see many people I have generally stuck to the Ringroad. For my longer runs my go to shoe is definitely the Brooks Ghost 12
The Brooks Ghost 12 delivers a plush, smooth ride mile after mile. This is going to be the shoe I will be running the Manchester Marathon in. The shoe is heavily cushioned and features a 12mm heel to toe offset. I find the Brooks Ghost 12 performs best on paved surfaces, but can handle well-groomed smooth natural surface paths. I have used this shoe several times on Marriotts Way and on soft trails and it handles them well. I love this shoe for my long runs and recovery runs. When putting this shoe on it feels so welcoming. The plush midsole and snug upper makes you feel right at home. Slipper like. Love this shoe!!
The shoe I would choose for speedwork has got to be the On Cloudflow.
This shoe is lightweight and ultra-responsive. This neutral running shoe feels really comfortable when you first put them on. The heel support is sturdy in its construction but also very smooth and comfortable due to the material it’s made from. The On Cloudflow has a unique feeling that somehow makes you want to run faster. The cloud pods give you that feeling of a cushioned landing, as they compress under your weight and forward force. The Cloudflow has been designed beautifully. I love all the detailing that On have put so much effort in adding, and the available colour variations for Men and Women are great. A lovely shoe!!
My last go to shoe for some tempo miles has got to be the 361 Spire
I have been testing this out on my tempo runs and have really enjoyed wearing it for runs from 5k to 10k. Overall I really like running in the Spire. Its MORPHIT construction in the mid-foot and heel provides a comfortable, secure and supportive environment. The QU!KFOAM midsole material comprised of a EVA rubber blend with PU coating provides excellent durability, cushioning and responsiveness. This shoe does have a firmer feel to it though due to the carbon fibreglass midfoot shank that hardens the landing though this does then make it more responsive. I feel that this shoe is very responsive at faster pace and has lower responsiveness at slower pace. I’m really starting to enjoy wearing this shoe the more I have run in it.
